Laughter/Should A Good Sense Of Humor Be Taken Seriously

Can laughter really improve your mood and help take your mind off of troubles. Humor is much more than just a pleasant distraction. Laughter has the ability to decrease stress and also protect the immune system. Some research indicates that laughter increases blood levels of immunoglobulin A which is a type of antibody, a protein produced by the immune system to fight infections in the upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. It may boost disease fighting T-cells and natural killer cells, which are depressed during and after stressful experiences.

A healthy laugh involves contraction and relaxation of the muscles in the face, shoulder and the abdomen. In theory a “workout” that may ease tension. What’s better than that?! We can all use a little tension easing in this chaotic world. So why not have a good laugh. As far as I’m concerned, If you don’t have a sense of humor, you got issues. Research has long associated anger and hostility with increased coronary heart disease risk. So then laughter must be heart protective. I believe that their are benefits to having an active sense of humor regardless of any case studies. That’s just my opinion. Why walk around in life that’s already hard to navigate through with such a troubled spirit. Lighten up your load and find some humor. Don’t take life so serious because as Shakespeare said, “A light heart lives long” and “Life is a stage and we are mere actors but God is the director so you best act right!
