Just recently I wrote an article about the weather and how we’re seeing all these catastrophic events occurring around the world due to weather change. But are you prepared for a disaster? Do you know how to protect your family? Are you ready in case you’re ever faced with an emergency crises. In certain circumstances, being prepared is not optional. In any event that you’re not totally affected yet lack the essential necessities electricity, water and food, it’s good to know what you need and how to store it.
For starters, invest in big containers. Metal safety boxes are also a very good investment especially for storing documents such as birth certificates, passports, documents etc. The heavy duty lined with insulation, water and fire proof for better protection are highly recommended. Do your research to what the best size type suits your needs. Generators are ideal if you own your home and your electricity dependent. Again, be sure to research when buying. There’s two types, a portable generator, that runs on gas so keep in mind that you need extra gas supply. Then there’s the permanent stand by generator that can be installed on a slab near your home that should be done by a professional. Another thing to consider if you own pets, you must have a plan ahead and be able to provide for their needs. Also, if you own a vehicle, be sure to put together a survival kit and other necessary equipment such as chargers, flashlights and batteries. Always keep a sweater and blanket in your vehicle along with paper goods. Do that for every vehicle you own.
