Stephen R. Covey is credited with developing the 7 cardinal rules of life. These rules, other phrases and quotes are written by inspirational people that in turn want to help us find inspiration within one’s self. They inspire motivation to change and look within and help us to see a greater outcome for our lives. In this article I will be depicting these seven rules that I find to be exceptional. My advice is to follow these rules, they hold a key to a successful, happy you!
1. Make Peace With Your Past So It Does Not Affect The Present.
Absolutely! Your past is your past and that’s where it needs to be. If your constantly clinging on your past, you will halt your ability to move on. Holding on to beautiful memories of the past is a good thing but holding onto what affected your life in a bad way and knowing you can’t change it, is not good. Let the bad things go. Learn from those mistakes and pains of the past. Open yourself up to a greater future. Forgive the people that hurt you. Throw that pain in the garbage or it will rot you. Try to cultivate peace in your life so that any past pains doesn’t affect your future.
2. What Others Think Of You Is None Of Your Business.
So true! It really is none of your business. Everyone is going to have an opinion and not everyone is going to like you or agree with you. You’re not here to do anyone’s work but your own. Don’t feed into it. People like to talk and always have something to say. If they’re talking about you, their also talking about someone else. Besides, we’re all entitled to an opinion. So let it go! Don’t put so much emphasis on what others think of you. Be a better person and carry on. You don’t need outside validation. It’s what God thinks of you, not people, that matter.
3. Time Heals Almost Everything, Give It Time.
Healing is a process that requires patience. Some people need to heal a bit longer than others, and that’s okay. We’re all different so give yourself the time you need to heal. In time things will get better. Hope and faith are keys to healing. ” Time heals all wounds.” It might sound cliche, but holds true. “Don’t let your heart be troubled. Trust in God. Trust also in me” John 14:1.
4. Don’t Compare Yourself To Others And Don’t Judge Them. You Have No Idea What Their Journey Is all About.
I really like this one. God did not create us alike. So therefore, we all have different journey’s to embark upon. Just because other people are at a certain place in their lives, doesn’t mean that’s where your suppose to be. What God has planned for you is not the same as others. And that’s right, don’t judge a person because they may not be at your level. “Because judgement without mercy will be shown to anyone who has been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgement!” James 2:13. So have mercy and don’t judge. Worry about your own journey and what you need to accomplish.
